Combilift extends the outside the box thinking behind its multidirectional, sideloading and articulated forklift series to the Self-Propelled Inloader COMBi-SPI, a vehicle handling up to 30-tonne elements in precast concrete operations. The truck muscles concrete—or large glass or glazing assembly—loads on industry standard Inloader Pallets, which lift on and off twin rails running the length of a split chassis. A side-facing cab provides operators a clear view of both the load and direction of travel, ensuring safe and precise duty cycles.

A pivoting dual-wheel configuration affords the COMBi-SPI a tight turning radius, optimizes stability, and eliminates the need for suspension.

Combilift unveiled the COMBi-SPI at the bauma 2025 trade fair, running April 7-13 in Munich, underscoring how the vehicle marks a significant milestone in the transport of high, vertically inclined loads. “This project showcases our commitment to innovation and customer-driven design,” says Heavy Equipment Manager Josh Moffett. “We’ve leveraged decades of expertise in specialized transport machinery to develop a state-of-the-art solution that meets the evolving needs of the concrete and glass industries.”

A 12-in. ground clearance suits operation in paved or unpaved yards.

Combilift began work on the SPI concept in 2022, aiming to deliver an alternative to the tractor-trailer mode of handling precast elements or members. Early prototypes focused on reducing the overall vehicle length and width while enhancing maneuverability for working with plant or yard space constraints. Company engineers collaborated with The Netherlands’ Spaansen, architectural and structural precast operator, through much of the development phase. The producer compelled Combilift to develop a battery electric version in addition to models running diesel or LPG power.  —  www.combilift.com/spi
