International Motors has completed S13 Integrated Powertrain adoption across its heavy-duty vehicle range, unveiling a redesigned HV Series with 109-in. and 115-in. bumper to back of cab models: the HV509 set forward axle and HV615 set back axle. Measured against charter 2018 versions, new HV Series offerings bring safety, driver convenience, fuel economy, weight savings (> 400 lbs.) and improved visibility (+53 inches) features. The HV is the manufacturer’s core offering for concrete mixer, dump and construction fleets, and a versatile companion to the premium HX Series introduced in 2016.
“The S13 Integrated Powertrain packaged with the redesigned HV delivers our best solutions for operational performance, fleet management, body integration and driver experience,” says International Vice President, Work Truck Chad Conley. “And with the backing of our service contracts, customers will see we’ve simplified the ownership experience, so they can focus on the areas of their business that matter most.”
The HV spec announcement followed last year’s initial deliveries of S13-equipped HX Series with dump or concrete mixer bodies. International presented the integrated powertrain package for HX models at ConExpo-Con/Agg 2023, continuing an S13 rollout that began the prior year with on-highway LT Series vehicles. The package combines a 13-liter International S13 diesel engine, available in 370- to 510-hp ratings; T14 automated manual transmission with two smooth and two crawler gears; and, one-box Dual Stage Aftertreatment device, absent diesel particulate filter or exhaust gas recirculation cooler. Software guides engine operation on low revolutions and high torque, equating to fewer fuel injections and less fuel consumption. Dual Stage box engineering allows for nearly 100 percent of exhaust to flow to a fixed geometry turbocharger, netting more engine power.
“We took the workhorse of our product line, modernized its appearance, and powered it with the industry’s most advanced powertrain,” notes International Vocational Marketing Manager Andy Hanson. “We also raised the bar when it comes to chassis and body integration by helping customers increase productivity and reduce equipment downtime.”

Through the chassis electrical system, Diamond Logic and expanded electronic control capabilities, he adds, HV customers will experience simplified and customizable body upfitting. Factory-installed power take-off options and Bendix Wingman Fusion integration boost vehicle safety and productivity. Additional HV Series enhancements include multiple air tank or dryer mounting possibilities, a more accessible fuel water separator, plus new tag or pusher axle options.
Contracts available with S13-equipped HV Series and sister models deliver everything from planned maintenance and proactive service planning to service event orchestration and complete vehicle coverage. Coupling these solutions with International’s extensive dealer network will ensure the S13-powered HV is as productive and efficient as possible, company officials affirm. — International Motors LLC, Lisle, Ill., www.internationaltrucks.com

HV SERIES + HENDRICKSON PRIMAAX EX
Hendrickson Truck Commercial Vehicle Systems unveiled a new Primaax EX severe-duty vocational rear air suspension system variant concurrent with the S13 Integrated Powertrain’s HV Series premier. Primaax EX options for the updated International Motors model include 12-in. ride height and 52,000-lb. air disc brake configuration.
The suspension is engineered specifically for the rigorous demands of severe service conditions. The ride height system variant contributes to better weight distribution, further improving stability and control when hauling heavy loads. Primaax EX minimizes suspension induced driveline vibration and controls suspension windup and corresponding frame rise. Premium heavy-duty rubber bushings require no lubrication and are performance tested for longer service life. The 52,000-lb. air disc brake configuration enables heavy-haul customers to specify air disc brakes on HV models that require more repeatable stopping distance.
“Primaax EX has grown tremendously in popularity over the years and has become widely accepted by fleets throughout the industry as their preferred 100 percent off-highway approved vocational air suspension for multiple severe-duty applications,” says Hendrickson “Truck Commercial Vehicle Systems Director of Marketing Sean Whitbeld.” — Hendrickson Truck Commercial Vehicle Systems, Woodridge, Ill., 855/743-3733; www.hendrickson-intl.com
