SEFA Group, Heidelberg Materials’ South Carolina-based fly ash processing technology and marketing subsidiary, will operate with the parent company banner effective this year. While the SEFA name continues to be associated with coal combustion residual beneficiation intellectual property, administrative, distribution and processing operations throughout Mid-Atlantic and Southeast markets will bear the Heidelberg Materials brand.

The Santee Cooper Power Winyah Station in Georgetown, S.C. harbors SEFA’s flagship Staged Turbulent Air Reactor—the gold standard in converting sub-grade fly ash or bottom ash to ASTM C618 thresholds.

“Two years ago, we unified many legacy brands under the Heidelberg Materials name to better reflect our expertise in heavy building materials while also conveying our commitment to becoming the industry leader in sustainability and digital solutions,” says Heidelberg Materials North America CEO Chris Ward. “The rebranding of our SEFA business further reinforces this commitment and aligns perfectly with our vision to build a more sustainable, circular, and resilient future.”

SEFA holds the premier coal ash processing technology and has more than 25 years of experience in designing and operating beneficiation facilities. At multiple sites owned or operated under contract,  company teams convert coal combustion residuals excavated from adjacent power generating station ponds or impoundments to concrete-grade fly ash.
