Chryso North America will arrive at World of Concrete 2025, January 20-23 in Las Vegas, with a portland cement clinker grinding aid formulated to address lower compressive strength, plastic shrinkage, variable set time and other performance issues concrete practitioners encounter when using Type IL portland limestone cement in lieu of traditional ASTM C150 Type I/II powder. This month’s launch of the EnviroAdd cement activator series coincides with public and private construction interests’ increasing approval of widely available Type IL blended cement to lower the carbon dioxide emissions associated with finished concrete.

ENVIROADD GRINDING AID PERFORMANCE

Chryso engineers measured EnviroAdd agents’ potential to deliver 28-day strengths in mortar specimens prepared with Type IL cement of 5 percent or 22 percent ground limestone content.

“We’re empowering the cement industry to overcome key challenges and accelerate the adoption of low-carbon concrete,” says Chryso Cement Additive Sales Director David Colby. “Extensive testing across North America has delivered outstanding results, showcasing how EnviroAdd can significantly reduce CO2 [factors] while improving performance. It’s critical to approach Type IL cement with a careful examination to understand and mitigate potential side effects during a project. We’ve developed the EnviroAdd portfolio specifically to tackle these challenges [and] are laser-focused on supporting the industry’s transition to Type IL cement.”

Field-tested across numerous North American projects, EnviroAdd activators have demonstrated remarkable strength gains—up to 20-25 percent at one day, 15-20 percent at 28 days—while controlling water demand and cement packset, he affirms. Such performance predictability creates room for process and quality optimization plus further clinker reduction with the use of supplementary cementitious materials such as fly ash, natural pozzolan, and calcined clay.

Chryso North America bills EnviroAdd agents as are fully customizable, offering tailored solutions to meet the unique needs of each cement producer and their concrete customers. Representatives will showcase the series at World of Concrete Booth S-11326 in the Las Vegas Convention Center South Hall.
