Kansas City-based heavy/civil construction operations management software developer XBE and the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association bill their new AskConcrete.com platform as an artificial intelligence-powered answer engine for intricate questions related to ready mixed concrete material science, production, and logistics matters. Example queries for which the site is programmed to deliver near-instant answers might include:
- “How do I calculate the precise quantity of concrete needed for a project?”
- “How does temperature impact concrete curing times?”
- “What are the ASTM standards for aggregate testing?”
- “How might carbon capture technology integrate into current production facilities?”
AskConcrete.com embodies hundreds of NRMCA publications developed over decades, among them the Concrete in Practice and Technology in Practice series. It provides accurate, step-by-step answers to a wide range of inquiries, plus underlying NRMCA document links. The site formally launched in early October with a backdrop of the Association’s ConcreteWorks Conference and Exposition.

“AskConcrete represents a step change in how our members tackle daily challenges,” said NRMCA Executive Vice President of Government Affairs Andrew Tyrell. “From detailed technical questions to quick operational needs, this tool offers instant insights that improve efficiency and decision-making across all levels of the industry.”
“AskConcrete is set to become an indispensable resource for members, [giving them] an edge in a competitive and complex market,” added NRMCA Chief Communications Officer Gregg Lewis.
“AskConcrete is the fastest, most effective way to access NRMCA’s extensive knowledge, ensuring that members have trusted information at their fingertips to solve problems more quickly than ever before,” XBE CEO Sean Devine concluded. The collaboration builds on XBE’s years of leadership in AI innovation, he noted, starting with Hey Kayla, an AI tool that inspired subsequent projects like Hey NAPA for the National Asphalt Pavement Association. XBE has also developed raw materials tracking software for Ozinga Ready Mix Concrete, Manatt’s Inc. and other NRMCA producers.
