Cemex, Maschmeyer, Ozinga pros top National Mixer Driver Championship

Allard Tigchelaar, based at the Cemex USA Prescott, Ariz., plant took the 18th annual National Mixer Driver Championship, staged October 12-13 during the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association ConcreteWorks Conference & Expo. He prevailed among a record field of 111 drivers, who navigated an eight-station challenge course and completed vehicle inspection plus written tests—all unfolding at the Gaylord Rockies Resort, Aurora, Colo. As champion, Tigchelaar earned a $6,000 cash prize from the Truck Mixer Manufacturers Bureau, NRMCA affiliate.

Mixer Driver Championship runner up Damion Wynter, based at the Maschmeyer Concrete of Florida Apollo Beach plant, earned a $3,000 prize from the TMMB; he continued a streak that saw him place third in the 2021 and 2022 competitions and second last year. Rounding out this year’s field, third to fifth place, were Garret Lytle of Ozinga Ready Mix Concrete, Munster, Ind., $2,000 prize; Mark Nieciecki of Prairie Materials, Schaumburg, Ill., $1,500; and, Bill Cook of Thomas Concrete, Conway, S.C., $1,000.

The NRMCA Safety, Environmental and Operations Committee opens the National Mixer Driver Championship to top performers in driver competitions under producer members and state affiliates.
