JLG Industries has released 10 Tips for Creating a Safety-Focused Work Culture, a whitepaper prepared to help contractors implement accident prevention strategies on their job sites. Topics addressed in the paper include storm safety, trip hazards, lone workers, heat and hydration, hearing protection, ergonomics, mental health, plus PPE and wearables.

Despite being around since the 1980s, creating a “culture of safety” has become a buzz phrase in the industry with safety professionals and modern business leaders, authors note, especially as construction work ramps up during the summer months. Adopting a safety culture can be achieved within any organization, of any size, they add, but it cannot be created or completed overnight. Rather, it is a journey of continuous improvement that enhances productivity.

Wisconsin-based safety and compliance solutions provider J.J. Keller & Associates has entered a strategic collaboration with Juno Jones Safety Boots, a National Safety Council Award-winning manufacturer. The parties aim to elevate workplace safety and comfort for workers across various industries. With roots in the trucking and footwear industries, Emily and Ryan Soloby founded Juno Jones after they noticed a gap in the safety footwear market around issues of inclusivity. The brand launched with women’s footwear made especially for female foot measurements and style; its viral popularity quickly grew the offering to include men’s durable safety footwear built for all day comfort.

“We’ve conducted studies on finding safe, well-fitting PPE in women’s sizing, and it is clearly a challenge for those working every day on job sites and those who purchase PPE for their companies,” says J.J. Keller Executive Vice President Lisa Karpinski. “We were inspired by Juno Jones’ focus on inclusivity in safety footwear and are excited to offer both the women’s and men’s lines.” Beyond the new Juno Jones boots, she adds, J. J. Keller offers a wide selection of quality, comfortable personal protective equipment under its proprietary Safegear line, spanning high-visibility apparel and accessories; safety gloves; hard hats and helmets; safety glasses and goggles; and, hearing protection.

BINMASTER RETOOLS IN SHORT ORDER
After losing its 115,000-sq.-ft. manufacturing facility to a late-April 2024 F3 tornado, BinMaster resumed silo level sensor and wireless device assembly at a new Lincoln, Neb. plant location in less than three weeks. Capping off the transition, the company moved in mid-summer to its new Transformation Drive offices at the 249-acre University of Nebraska Innovation Campus. The new plant is only a few miles from the prior Lincoln location. BinMaster set up production as supply chain staff replenished inventory of almost 30,000 parts in a 40,000-sq.-ft. warehouse and manufacturing facility.

“Our swift recovery is a testament to the unity and commitment of our entire team. We couldn’t have done it without the unwavering support of our vendor partners and the resilience of our IT infrastructure that preserved our history,” says BinMaster and Garner Industries President Scott McLain.
