Kenworth Truck has introduced a California Air Resources Board (CARB) version of the Paccar MX-13 engine, scheduled for Q4 2024 production and available on T880, W990 and T680 models. New aftertreatment hardware meets stringent California low nitrogen oxide emissions requirements. Key to CARB compliance are a twin-canister selective catalytic reduction aftertreatment device plus more optimized emissions controls systems. The CARB-compliant MX-13 engine is available in two ratings: 510-hp with 1,850 lb.-ft. of torque and a 455-hp with 1,650 lb.-ft of torque. Both yield performance and drivability without compromise on fuel economy. The new MX-13 version combines with Paccar TX transmissions and DX rear axles for an efficient, integrated low-NOx solution.
“Customers are looking for better options to successfully navigate the complexities of the evolving regulatory landscape. Models equipped with the MX-13 CARB-compliant engine meet stringent emissions regulations while also delivering a solution that drives increased engine efficiency and enhanced fuel economy,” says Kenworth Assistant General Manager of Sales & Marketing Kevin Haygood.
