Sunrock welcomes Lafarge, VCNA Prairie veteran Nolan as new chief

Mike Nolan will oversee an independent ready mixed, aggregates and asphalt operator with eight North Carolina sites, including the Wake Forest concrete plant, plus one Ontario and two Alberta locations.

Sunrock Industries, a ready mixed concrete, aggregates and asphalt producer with North Carolina flagship plus Ontario and Alberta satellite operations, has named Mike Nolan as president. He arrives with 20-plus years in construction materials management roles, primarily at Lafarge North America, Lafarge Group and VCNA Prairie. During assignments in Illinois for the latter producer and on both sides of the Atlantic for Lafarge, he held responsibilities for sales & marketing, mergers & acquisitions, enterprise information technology and operations. Most recently, Nolan headed Suit-Kote Corp., an asphalt pavement preservation specialist with New York and Pennsylvania locations. A Maryland native, he holds an undergraduate degree from Franciscan University in Ohio and MBA from Loyola College in Baltimore. He will be based at The Sunrock Group headquarters in Raleigh, N.C.

SUNROC + ARIZONA METRO
Utah-based Sunroc Corp. has closed on Arizona Metro Mix LLC, which serves the Phoenix area with four batch plants and 72 full-time team members. “This acquisition marks the beginning of an exciting chapter for Sunroc in the Phoenix market,” says President Mark Elder. “We bring a reputation that is known throughout the Intermountain West as providing high quality construction services and materials with unmatched customer service.”
