Burnco Rock Products has closed on the assets of Colorado’s Action Ready Mix LLC, including ready mixed plants in Colorado Springs and Pueblo. A family-owned operator with 70-plus payroll, Action RM serves residential and commercial building accounts. It provides Burnco a greater geographic and operational footprint, stretching from northern Denver to Pueblo, 100 miles south.
“Burnco and Action Ready Mix absolutely complement each other,” says Burnco CEO Tom Zais. “Both have developed a unique position within the market as we employ local people to harvest local resources for local communities. We’re both also committed to growing and strengthening operations in the dynamic Front Range area.”
“As a small company, we have had our share of considerable growth and success,” adds Action RM principal Tod Knudsen. “We want our employees to continue on this path and get to the next level, and believe Burnco is the best company with the talented leadership group to help accomplish this.”
Burnco Chairman Scott Burns cites the core operating values Knudsen has established in Action RM, adding, “Such a foundation sets the stage for a swift integration of eager and capable employees who can help expand our scope and strengthen our Colorado operations.”
The deal is Burnco’s latest move to grow U.S. (Colorado, Texas) and Canadian (Alberta) operations organically and through merger & acquisition activity. The Action RM operations and fleet will be re-branded to their new owner in the near term.
