ASTM standard economizes concrete specimen strength testing

ASTM Committee C09 on Concrete and Concrete Aggregates’ proposed WK82351, New Test Method for Measurement of a Dominant Resonant Mode of a Concrete Specimen, will provide a fast, simple, non-destructive method for measuring strength. It can be performed most anywhere and—pending further data collection, validation and calibrations—stands to benefit stakeholders across a concrete project.

“Manufacturers can improve their quality assurance, builders can optimize construction schedules, and laboratories can provide new services to augment existing methods,” says C09 member Neil Cox. “Regulatory bodies will have a new strength testing method that can corroborate existing methods and provide testing that otherwise may not be viable.”

WK82351 work relates to United Nations Sustainable Development Goals #3, #9, #10 and #11, respectively addressing health, infrastructure, inequality, and city resilience.
