Master Builders engineering chief Nmai elected ACI president

The American Concrete Institute has named Master Builders Solutions Admixtures US Head of Engineering Charles Nmai, FACI, president for a 2022-23 term. A 35-year veteran of the admixture market leader, he is involved in technology transfer/standards activities and specification efforts to advance the use of durable and sustainable solutions in the concrete industry worldwide. Nmai is a member of the ACI Foundation Board of Trustees and Board of NEU: An ACI Center of Excellence for Carbon Neutral Concrete, plus ACI Committees 130, Sustainability of Concrete; 201, Durability of Concrete; 222, Corrosion of Metals in Concrete; 363, High-Strength Concrete; and, E701, Materials for Concrete Construction.

ACI has also named Michael Paul, FACI, principal structural engineer for Philadelphia-based Larsen & Landis Inc., 2022-23 vice president. Four members elected to three-year ACI Board of Direction terms are: Robert C. Lewis, technical marketing manager – Silica Fume, Ferroglobe Plc, Madrid; Anton Schindler, FACI, Mountain Spirit professor and Highway Research Center director, Auburn University, Alabama; Matthew Sherman, FACI, senior principal, Simpson Gumpertz & Heger, Waltham, Mass.; and, Lawrence Sutter, FACI, associate dean of Research and External Engagement, Michigan Technological University College of Engineering, Houghton.
