The Slag Cement Association is accepting nominations or entries in the Slag Cement in Sustainable Concrete Awards Program—formerly Project of the Year Awards—through November 1. Award categories now include Architectural, Durability, Infrastructure, High Performance, Innovative Applications, and Lower Carbon Concrete. In addition, nominators can now indicate if portland-limestone cement (PLC) was used on a project. Along with exemplary slag cement concrete practice, the SCA Awards Program also honors research.

“The rebrand of the SCA Awards program exemplifies the importance of sustainability in concrete construction. Slag cement provides many benefits when used in concrete mixtures such as durability, resiliency, and high performance. This is great opportunity to showcase the use of slag cement and PLC in lowering the carbon impact of concrete,” says SCA Executive Director Drew Burns.

Projects eligible for 2021 Slag Cement in Sustainable Concrete Awards are those completed in North America from January 2020 to December 2021. Nomination forms, along with galleries of past award winners, are posted at www.slagcement.org.
