S. Dakota State set for fifth Concrete Industry Management program

The Concrete Industry Management National Steering Committee (NSC) is on track to formalize an agreement whereby South Dakota State University, Brookings, begins offering a four-year CIM degree program in fall 2022. The school would become the Midwest companion to existing CIM venues, each backed by active patrons groups: Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro; California State University, Chico; New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark; and, Texas State University, San Marcos.

A fifth CIM degree program launch stems from efforts of past NSC Chairman Wally Johnson (U.S. Concrete) and Thor Becken (Cemstone Products), who chairs a North Central Region patrons group spearheading a school search. NSC members and NCR patrons recognize South Dakota State’s strong commitment to a CIM program, favorable tuition rates, laboratory and classroom facilities, plus past experience with public-private partnerships. A forthcoming memorandum of understanding will outline NSC, NCR patrons and South Dakota State deliverables.
