Upon announcing the passing of its co-founder and former executive chairman earlier this spring, Command Alkon honored Kenneth G. Robinson II as “an extraordinarily talented and accomplished entrepreneur” whose “belief in people being instrumental to the company’s success was recognized in his compassion for the business and its employees, together steering it through shared challenges and accomplishments.”
A retired Air Force Captain and graduate of the University of Maryland and Harvard University Small Business Company Management Program, Robinson founded Command Data Inc. in 1976. Tenure at IBM plus Computer Servicecenters, a prior venture he had launched, informed his partnership- and acquisition-driven evolution of Command Data into Birmingham, Ala.-based Command Alkon, the leader in construction materials-centered information technology. He is shown here accepting the 2012 National Ready Mixed Concrete Association Chairman’s Award.
