The SDC Technology Forum 46, August 27-29 in Pittsburgh, will showcase new and innovative equipment, materials, and applications that have the potential to advance the industry through themed presentations, including “Integrated Design of Chemical Admixture Systems via Machine Learning;” “Fiber-Reinforced Polymer Composite Macrofibers Used in Precast Concrete;” “Strengthening Bridges and Existing Concrete Structures Using Titanium;” and, “Opportunity for Improved Productivity & Quality with Robotics.”

American Concrete Institute President Randall Poston will moderate a panel, “Use of Non-Metallic Reinforcement,” examining the theme from private owner, public owner designer, contractor, manufacturer and researcher viewpoints. Speakers will discuss the state of research and development; activities by ACI, ASTM and AASHTO; plus, constructability, productivity and risk. The forum will also offer a tour of the Frick Environmental Center, a 2017 ACI Excellence in Concrete Construction Award winner.

SDC collaborates across the concrete industry to address technical challenges and create a forum for new technology introduction and nurturing. SDC hosts semiannual, 1.5-day gatherings to highlight innovative technologies and research that members perceive as having positive productivity or economic impacts on the industry.
