Joe Casale

Chad Hustedde

The Manufacturers, Products & Services Division presented the 2019 Concrete Cares Award to producers in two categories, each recipient designating a charitable organization to which the Division donates $1,000. Casa Redimix Concrete Corp. of the Bronx, N.Y., was recognized in the first (< 250,000 yd./annual production) for a host of local community contributions, led by “Delivering Awareness One Yard at a Time,” a mixer truck graphics campaign carrying messages of cancer prevention; an annual golf outing benefitting the Cancer Institute of St. Francis Hospital; and, annual distribution of 2,000 turkey dinners and care packages to families or individuals in need. Casa Redimix Sales Manager Joe Casale accepted the award.

Cemex USA was recognized in the second Concrete Cares category (> 250,000 yd./annual production) for a program, “Safer Roads Together,” in which it teamed with the League of American Bicyclists on a safety campaign emphasizing awareness of potential blind spots around mixer trucks plus accident-free riding and driving on the roads. Cyclists participating in campaign events were able to see first hand the limited side and rear visibility mixer or tanker truck drivers have from their cabs. Cemex USA’s Chad Hustedde accepted the award.
