The latest additions to Sika AG’s North American operations are King Packaged Materials Co., a large independent Canadian producer of dry shotcrete, grouts, mortars and concrete solutions, and sister business King Shotcrete Equipment Inc.—both under KPM Industries Inc., Oakville, Ontario. The acquisitions expand the geographical footprint of Quebec-based Sika Canada and improve its growth potential in home improvement, construction, mining and tunneling markets.

King Packaged Materials and King Shotcrete reported 2018 sales of $75 million and have a combined payroll of 180 employees. Sika officials cite the brands’ excellent reputation, high quality and reliable product solutions, along with strong technical sales expertise. King Packaged Materials operates three high output plants, two strategic to Montreal and Toronto, a third in the heart of Ontario mining country.

“The acquisition of King Packaged Materials will improve our presence and penetration on several market segments thanks to an increased production capacity of cement‐based materials in Central and Eastern Canada,” says Sika Canada President Richard Aubertin. “The complementarity of the product lines in markets with high growth potential, such as home improvement, tunneling and mining, will make Sika Canada one of the leading suppliers of construction solutions in the country.”
