Now in its ninth decade of operation, Salisbury, N.C.-based Stalite has unveiled a new logo to reflect growth and stature in expanded lightweight slate production. The logo is abstract yet rock solid, management notes: Two identically shaped flames form the letter S. Enclosed in a circle, the design gives the illusion of looking into a rotary kiln within which Stalite’s lightweight aggregate is created. Inside the circle, the gray and blueish tints, as well as the bottom section of the S, represent the transformation of the slate in Stalite’s distinct process.

“We felt it was time to give our logo a progressive, international look,” says General Manager Jody Wall. “We ship from North Carolina to literally all over the world. The aggregate’s structural characteristics, combined with our strenuous quality assurance program, make Stalite the material of choice for high performance concrete projects.” In addition to delivering lightweight aggregate to the state of Washington, Newfoundland and Norway, he adds, the company has developed relationships with concrete and construction interests in the Middle East and Eastern Europe, while preliminary projects are in the works for Singapore and Turkey accounts.
