One of southern California’s leading hardscape design and installation contractors is deploying Pepper, a 4-ft. humanoid robot programmed to answer homeowner questions about outdoor living and project possibilities, at its San Diego County Fair (June 1-July 4) and Orange County Fair (July 13-August 12) booths.
“In an ever-evolving, technologically-savvy world, we feel passionately about staying ahead of innovations in the home improvement industry. With Pepper, homeowners will have a new, fun and interactive way to engage with System Pavers,” says CEO Larry Green.
SoftBank Robotics America bills Pepper as “a revolutionary business tool that enhances customers’ experience.” In a setting like the System Pavers booth, the 3D camera- and artificial intelligence-equipped robot can detect surroundings and react to visitors by analyzing voice, facial expressions and vocabulary. On a lighter, more playful note, visitors can test Pepper’s selfie feature or tag the robot to be the photographer by activating its digital photo booth.
