Respirator kits equal to OSHA silica standard

The CleanSpace2 Power Unit Respirator Trial Kit is designed to provide construction interests with high efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter protection to help meet the OSHA 29 CFR 1926.1153 Respirable Crystalline Silica in Construction and OSHA 29 CFR 1910 General Industry regulations, scheduled for September 2017–June 2018 adoption.

“The Kit is an opportunity for construction companies and contractors to experience the difference of our powered air purifying respirators in delivering enhanced protection, comfort and cost savings,” says CleanSpace Technologies CEO Alex Birrell. “The common complaints that powered-air purifying respiratory masks are bulky, expensive and require extensive maintenance are remedied with the CleanSpace 2. Safety managers and workers will discover that [the] masks provide a higher Assigned Protection Factor, or APF, of 50 when engineering controls are not feasible or N95 respirators are insufficient, while being cost effective and very comfortable to wear even in hot, humid conditions.”

According to OSHA, 2.3 million workers are exposed to respirable crystalline silica in their workplaces, including 2 million construction workers who drill, cut, crush, or grind silica-containing materials such as concrete and stone, and 300,000 workers in general industry operations such as ready mixed and manufactured concrete, clay brick and foundries.

The kits are a complete, ready to use system with CleanSpace2 power unit; HEPA particulate filter and filter adaptor; half masks (small, medium, large) storage and cleaning plug set; plus, backpack and disposable covers. CleanSpace Technologies, Chicago, www.cleanspacetechnology.com
