Wieser Concrete Products has promoted Andy Winkler to general manager of its Maiden Rock, Wis., flagship plant, tasked with leading safety, marketing, sales, administrative and service groups. Winkler joined the company 16 years ago and has been in the precast industry his entire career—completing tours of duty in production, delivery, installation and sales, while also playing a pivotal role in the safety program. Beyond the plant, he is Minnesota Onsite Wastewater Association president elect and National Precast Concrete Association Safety, Health and Environmental Committee member, and spearheaded an initiative that saw the Wisconsin Precast Concrete Association premier a boom truck certification class earlier this year.

Randall Brown has joined the Spancrete team as the general manager of the precast/prestressed plant in Newnan, Ga. He brings 30-plus years of concrete and construction experience throughout the South. He will be responsible for implementing operational systems, driving performance improvement and overall business management at a 35-acre site from which Spancrete supplies hollow core plank, wall panels, RePlenish pervious paving slabs and RibSlab flooring product throughout the Southeast.
Lane Construction Corp. has awarded Smith-Midland Corp. a contract to supply over 124,000 lineal feet of J-J Hooks precast concrete safety barrier for the Interstate 395 Express Lane project in northern Virginia. The $336-million design-build undertaking will extend express lanes along an eight-mile section of I-395 in Fairfax and Arlington counties. Beginning this fall and running until project completion in spring 2020, Smith-Midland will cast, deliver and set free-standing and bolt-down J-J Hooks Barrier. The producer will also provide resetting services, redeploying barrier runs as the project progresses.
