Fabrication standard dovetails rise of stainless steel rebar

The Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute’s recently released Standard Practice for Stainless Steel Reinforcing Bar Fabrication Facilities (ANSI/CRSI-IPG4.1) defines development and use of a fabrication quality manual, proper personnel training, inspection criteria, handling and storage, fabrication, and shipping. ANSI/CRSI-IPG4.1 has similarities to the ISO 9000 series of international quality management and assurance standards developed to help companies effectively document elements behind an efficient quality system. Stainless steel rebar has attained certification under both ISO 9000 and ANSI/CRSI-IPG4.1, and is available at www.crsi.org/index.cfm/standards/standards_docs.
