Concrete Cloth developer weaves low permeability composite mat

Spartanburg, S.C.-based Milliken Infrastructure Solutions, LLC has announced CC Hydro Geosynthetic Cementitious Composite Mat (GCCM), its newest product for water infrastructure, oil, gas and industrial applications. The all-in-one containment product combines the properties of the company’s Concrete Cloth GCCM with a high impermeability, chemically resistant geomembrane backing.

Concrete Canvas Ltd.-licensed CC Hydro introduces a new solution to challenges in secondary containment, channel and irrigation lining, as well as pond or lagoon lining applications. The combination of impermeability of a containment liner, with the protection and durability of concrete helps reduce installation time by consolidating materials and simplifying logistics.

“Because of the many environmental containment applications, CC Hydro really is a comprehensive solution,” says Milliken Infrastructure Global Market Manager John Hepfinger. “We’ve already seen how Concrete Cloth can provide installation and maintenance savings, and in the right application CC Hydro can further those investments.”

CC Hydro (shown at top in cross section) extends use of the Concrete Cloth Geosynthetic Cementitious Composite Mat (above), which Milliken Infrastructure has developed for linings and other environmental conditions.

Unlike conventional concrete products, he adds, the flexible concrete impregnated fabric, which hardens after hydration, can be installed in wet conditions. The impregnated concrete also provides long-term protection to the geomembrane from puncture, abrasion, weather and UV exposure. CC Hydro eliminates life-cycle costs traditionally incurred with alternative products: By eliminating the need for a protective top cover, no additional fill material or excavation and treatment of contaminated soil is required. Additionally, the product can be laid directly onto existing profiles without inducing any volume loss, providing time and cost savings. CC Hydro incorporates a high-visibility welding strip, allowing installers to bond the joints with a twin-track air channel for fast and simple on-site pressure testing. http://infrastructure.milliken.com/cchydro
