Two very different 2016 campaigns have the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association prepared to defend or build share in markets representing 60-70 percent of industry shipments. Both stand to help producer members in 2017 match or eclipse last year’s 3 percent growth rate, equal to a 10 million-yd. year-over-year gain.

Developed in response to a National Transportation Safety Board request following a fatal Boston Central Artery/Tunnel precast panel anchor failure, the certification program is now available in 40-plus locations.

Aslan produces and markets glass and carbon FRP (fiber reinforced polymer) products, also known as composite rebar, used to reinforce concrete in new or retrofit projects.

In collaboration with Dr. Neal Berke of Kalamazoo, Mich.-based Tourney Consulting Group, the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association has completed research to a) establish a relationship between the calculated total (initial) chloride content and measured water-soluble chloride content in hardened concrete; and, b) potentially give ready mixed producers latitude in mixture adjustments on projects bound by ACI 318 Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete.
