Silica dust exposure protection carries the day at World of Concrete 2017

World of Concrete 2017 evidenced a mid-year enforcement timetable for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s new crystalline silica dust exposure threshold covering construction sites and general workplaces. Leading the charge for compliance were sawing and drilling equipment exhibitors, along with peers promoting cementitious material conveying, handling or dispensing devices with which silica dust can reach agency-reduced levels.

Concrete Products observed moderate to strong attendance and traffic throughout the Las Vegas Convention Center North (Producer, Masonry), Central (Equipment) and South (Materials) Halls during the January 17-20 event. Typifying a ConExpo-Con/Agg (March 7-11, Las Vegas Convention Center) year, World of Concrete 2017 appeared to draw slightly fewer attendees than normal, and saw plant and fleet equipment exhibitors temper displays and introductions ahead of the larger March gathering, staged every three years.
