Basalite has acquired Colorado Springs, Colo., and Cheyenne, Wyo., concrete block production assets—plus a retail showroom adjacent to the latter site—from Tennessee-based General Shale, best known for leadership in clay masonry. The deal extends the Rocky Mountain market presence of Basalite, which has concrete masonry production in Boise, Idaho, and Denver.
“General Shale is a long-established and well-respected manufacturer of concrete products,” says Basalite President Scott Weber. “This acquisition is an excellent strategic fit with Basalite’s long-term objectives to expand our business capabilities while better serving the Colorado and Wyoming markets.”
Basalite is one of the leading concrete and clay masonry producers west of the Mississippi, serving the Rocky Mountain region; California and the Pacific Northwest; plus, Alberta and British Columbia. In addition to its namesake block and hardscape product line, brands and businesses include Gladding McBean, Interstate Brick, Simons Brick and Epic Plastics.
