Owens Corning underwrites historic-concrete restoration at Pearl Harbor

Through an agreement announced on the 75th anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, the Owens Corning Foundation committed $100,000 to support the Concrete Preservation Institute (CPI) Career Skills Program, presently engaged in a multi-year restoration of historic Pearl Harbor Battleship Row mooring quays. CPI is bringing to Hawaii skills and practice demonstrated during concrete restoration at Alcatraz Island in San Francisco Bay.

Post-election uncertainty, slower growth compel minor PCA forecast adjustment

U.S. cement consumption is on track to see 2.7 percent growth in 2016 versus the 4 percent increase PCA projected earlier this year. The association has also revised its 2017 U.S. cement consumption growth forecast from 4.2 percent to 3.1 percent, owing to the negative pressure of post-election political uncertainty, inflation and slower construction activity.
