ASTM Committees C09 on Concrete and Concrete Aggregates and C13 on Concrete Pipe have scheduled one-day technical programs in conjunction with December meetings in Orlando.

C09’s Impact of Building Information Modeling on Materials and Testing Symposium, December 5, will cover the BIM concept and encourage society member thinking about how ASTM standards might interface with the technology users’ needs. Chaired by Command Alkon quality control and sustainability specialist James Shilstone, the program suits engineers, laboratories and material suppliers. Registration continues through November 30 and can be completed here.

C13’s Symposium on Concrete Pipe and Box Culverts, December 7, is aimed at presenting historical information on specifications and manufacturing technology evolution; describing new design and installation procedures; discussing innovative applications and uses; introducing new concrete pipe, manhole and box culvert technologies; and, determining the need for new ASTM standards covering these products. Co-chairing the symposium are American Concrete Pipe Association’s Josh Beakley, P.E., and C13 member at-large John Meyer, P.E. Registration continues through November 30 and can be completed here.
