| Contractors completing the BDC PRO Certification Program on properly sealing masonry surfaces are awarded 2.5 credits toward annual required goals for Certified Installer continuing education. The latter stems from formal recognition of the Black Diamond training by the Interlocking Concrete Paving Institute. The Tampa-based company developed the program in response to contractor requests for additional information on proper sealing techniques, joint stabilization strategies and other challenges in hardscapes practice. |

A national producer of bio-based, environmentally-friendly sealers, Black Diamond Coatings has recently staged BDC PRO certification courses at Florida’s Flagstone Pavers, Brooksville and Pompano Beach, plus Oldcastle Coastal, Tampa. The company developed the class to teach professional contractors the benefits and proper application methods of it product line, which includes low VOC, water-based sealers.
“BDC PRO contractors are a growing group of individuals who understand the best practices of applying our products and deliver the best results to their customers,” says Black Diamond President David Warren. Technical experts lead the courses, he adds, demonstrating how the company’s bio-based sealers are a leading option for contractors who plan to seal concrete, paver and stone surfaces.
After the instruction, demonstration and troubleshooting, course participants obtain BDC PRO certification. “A lot of companies recommend diluting their products with water. [Black Diamond] instructed us it is not recommended with their products,” notes Weeki Wachee Stone Yard President Bart Citro. “This is very important to me as I advertise I do not dilute products use[d] for my customers.”
