Boral USA officials cut the ribbon on a San Antonio, Texas, facility focused on material science, polymer chemistry, composite products, durability testing and process development. Dubbed the Boral Innovation Factory, it is a companion to a cementitious material- and concrete technology-centered research & development lab in Sydney, home base of parent Boral Ltd.

Twenty-seven portland cement operations are among 70 manufacturing plants to achieve EPA Energy Star certification in 2015. Producers recognized for energy performance in the top 25 percent of the industry are Holcim (five plants); Buzzi Unicem, Cemex USA and Lehigh Cement (four plants); Argos USA, Essroc Cement and Titan America (two plants); plus, Ash Grove Cement, CalPortland Co., Martin Marietta Materials, Salt River Materials and Suwannee American (one plant).

Caterpillar will discontinue production of its on-highway vocational truck series, citing the current climate for heavy duty vehicles and a restructuring plan aligning company businesses with existing conditions. It will cease taking orders but maintain support for the Class 8 CT660, CT680 and CT681 models in the field.
