ORGANIZATIONS – JANUARY 2016

The Ready Mixed Concrete Association of Ontario has officially re-branded as Concrete Ontario. Members acknowledged the group’s growth and evolution over 56 years and felt it was time for a change, noting how the new identity satisfies all of the expectations the original mark stands for while simultaneously moving the organization forward. Providing easy recall and recognition of the association, the new brand maintains a visual connection to how it was seen before.

Concrete Ontario aligns with the industry’s vision, mission and goals, and communicates to target markets and stakeholders that the association represents the concrete industry throughout Ontario. RMCAO will continue to remain the group’s legal name; Concrete Ontario will be the brand for all external marketing, promotion, and communication and advocacy efforts. All certifications will continue to be issued under “Ready Mixed Concrete Association of Ontario.”

The American Society of Concrete Contractors Emerging Leaders (EL) Committee has initiated a mentoring program for its contractor and associate members. “The program seeks to unite seasoned concrete construction professionals with members of lesser experience in a guided program to share knowledge and expertise,” says member Greg Hyde of Hyde Concrete.

The program is open to all ASCC contractor and associate members at no cost. Mentors are selected for their proficiency in a variety of disciplines, i.e. tilt-up, superflat floors, decorative concrete, industrial construction, business management and field operations. Mentees can be any member looking to augment their general concrete construction knowledge or find guidance in a particular area. “This program directly supports ASCC’s mission to ‘enhance the capabilities of those who build with concrete,’” affirms EL co-chair Matt Poppoff.
