More than 100 Lafarge customers and staff recently gathered in Nova Scotia for the 50th anniversary of the Brookfield cement plant and reflect on it continued role in building Atlantic Canada. Officials characterized the event as an important milestone marking five decades of customer excellence, industrial performance and community partnership at the Maritimes’ sole—and North America’s eastern-most—cement plant. Lafarge Eastern Canada CEO Bruno Roux (right) acknowledged employees’ commitment to health and safety, noting how the site had just reached six years without a lost time accident, and emphasized corporate pride in a plant that has contributed to homes, buildings and roads integral to daily life in Atlantic Canada. Joining him here are Brookfield Plant Manager Scarth MacDonnell and Nova Scotia Deputy Premier, Attorney General and Minister of Justice Diana Whalen.
