Upgrades speed moisture, temperature data relay from Hydronix sensors, probes

Hydronix Ltd. has re-engineered its digital moisture sensors to take advantage of increased microprocessor speeds and memory, and released a new Hydro-Com sensor calibration and configuration software version. The latter is based on a client-server framework and supports multi-company, multi-site sensor locations simplifying enterprise wide solutions.

Hydro-Mix (HM08)

The Hydro-Probe sensor, designed for measuring moisture in bins and on conveyors, now features an additional analogue output, allowing simultaneous relay of moisture and temperature readings. Filtering and averaging functions have also been enhanced to give greater flexibility when optimizing the sensor’s performance in continuous type applications such as bins or conveyor belts.

Geared to moisture measurement in concrete mixers, screw conveyors and chutes, the Hydro-Mix sensor is now capable of concurrently running all three Hydronix digital measurement modes. When using a suitable batch plant and control system, the standard measurement mode already achieves +/- 0.1 percent moisture gauge. Running the three mode concurrently simplifies the process of selecting the most appropriate one for a given mix design. Hydronix officials encourage automation suppliers to consider the option of including the best possible mode as a parameter in their recipe database to offer peak precision.

Hydronix sensors can store all individual sample points relating to a calibration directly inside the unit. It is therefore possible to connect any PC to the sensor and check calibration validity using Hydro-Com software without having to access the original computer used to load the points into the sensor. Compatibility Mode has been removed due to field obsolescence, but all other aspects including the connections and robust sensor body remain backward compatible.

The new Hydro-Mix, Hydro-Probe and Hydro-Com versions premiered last month in Paris at Intermat, the global construction exhibition sequenced in years between ConExpo-Con/Agg, Las Vegas, and bauma, Munich. They will be available in North America next month. — Hydronix Americas, Harbor Springs, Mich., 231/439-5000, 888/887-4884; www.hydronix.com
