Kyle Wundt has joined Rober Ober & Associates LLC as engineer, based in the San Antonio design center headquarters. He has 15-plus years of engineering experience, and will be responsible for the design and specification of bulk material handling systems on local, regional and global projects.

Michael Esposito

Separately, Michael Esposito, P.E., has joined Rober Ober & Associates as structural engineer. With 15 years of experience in commercial construction, he will assist in developing a growing portfolio of concrete, mining and energy sector projects.

Privately held Robert Ober & Associates, whose leading brands include Plant Architects and Plant Outfitters, acts as a specialty design-build firm employing industrial designers and architects, systems and material handling engineers, and project management personnel in the role of owner’s representatives and consultants.


Command Alkon, a global player in information technology solutions for the construction and bulk materials industries, has acquired Eastech, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. “We have combined [it] with our existing Malaysian operations to create Command Alkon Malaysia SDN. BHD,” says Phil Ramsey, president of Birmingham, Ala.-based Command Alkon. “We look forward to the ongoing success of our operations in the Pacific Rim markets.”


The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has presented CalPortland Co. a 2015 Energy Star Partner of the Year–Sustained Excellence Award for continued leadership in protecting the environment through superior energy efficiency achievements. The Glendora, Calif., cement, ready mixed and aggregate producer was recognized late last month at an agency-hosted gathering in Washington, D.C.

“CalPortland has been an Energy Star partner since 1996. For nearly two decades that relationship has been instrumental in the continuous improvement of our energy program. We have established a core culture of energy management that includes all levels of the company’s operations. Our employees are very proud of their accomplishments to improve energy efficiency, reduce emissions and contribute to the protection of our environment while reducing cost,” says CalPortland CEO Allen Hamblen.

“Through sustained participation with Energy Star, CalPortland is helping Americans save money, save energy, and do their part to reduce our nation’s greenhouse gas emissions,” adds EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy, recognizing the producer for earning the agency’s highest Energy Star award.

Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Awards are presented to a variety of organizations. Recipients have reduced greenhouse gas emissions by setting and achieving aggressive goals, and employing innovative energy efficiency approaches. The awards recognize ongoing leadership across the Energy Star program, including energy-efficient products, services, new homes, and buildings in the commercial, industrial, and public sectors.

Amy Boerger

Cummins Inc. has appointed Amy Boerger vice president–North American Engine Business. She brings 30-plus years of experience in sales and service, OEM account management, as well as Cummins Emission Solutions and Engine Business leadership roles. Most recently, she has been served as executive director–North American Engine Business, becoming an integral part of the Heavy-Duty, MidRange and Light-Duty product leadership team and leading all aspects of sales and customer support. Boerger will continue overall leadership for Engine Business interests in North America, including Field Sales and Support and Central National Account teams, as well as the Truck, Bus and Industrial OEM teams. 

Separately, Cummins has appointed Jim Fier as vice president–Engineering, Heavy-Duty, MidRange and Light-Duty (HMLD) Engine Business. He began his Cummins career in 1986 as a service engineer, and has held various roles since, including executive engineer–HMLD On-Highway, Worldwide Chief Engineer, Technical Project Leader, and Program Leader. Fier currently serves as executive director–HMLD Engineering, leading all new product development and support of Cummins 2.8- to 15-liter on- and off-highway products for the global market.
