Cement, fly ash producers commit 100-plus truckloads to CIM Auction pool

Cemex USA, Holcim (US) Inc., Lafarge North America, Lehigh Hanson Inc. and Titan America have each donated 10 truckloads of portland cement to the 10th annual CIM Auction, February 4 at the Las Vegas Convention Center—in conjunction with the 2015 World of Concrete.

 

The donations are mostly Type I/II cement for mill or terminal pick up. Joining leading donors with two- to five-truckload contributions are Argos USA; CalPortland Co.; Continental Cement; Eagle Materials/Central Plains and Illinois Cement; Essroc Cement; GCC of America; Martin Marietta Materials/TXI; Mitsubishi Cement Corp.; National Cement; and, St. Marys Cement. Headwaters Resources and Salt River Materials Group have committed five and four loads of fly ash, respectively.

Beyond binder and other concrete mix or surface-finishing material donations, the CIM Auction pool will feature a Mack Granite-mounted McNeilus 11-yd. mixer, plus concrete and construction equipment or tools. Along with vacation and leisure travel, participants can also bid on sports packages including NFL, NCAA, NBA, NHL, NASCAR and PGA events. “Thanks to the tremendous response from the industry, we anticipate the best CIM Auction ever,” affirms event chair Mike Philipps (Cemex USA).

Auction proceeds will benefit concrete business-intensive CIM undergraduate programs at Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro; California State University–Chico; New Jersey Institute of Technology; and, Texas State University. Conducted by Ritchie Bros., the February 4 event will include silent (11 a.m.) and live (1 p.m.) bidding in Las Vegas Convention Center rooms N262 and N263.
