The Tilt-Up Concrete Association’s annual convention, presented by Meadow Burke September 29–October 1 in San Jose, Calif., will feature educational opportunities for contractors, engineers, architects, suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, educators and developers from across the globe, plus an outdoor demonstration from Bradley Concrete, Cemex and Hub Construction Specialties.
“This large scale demonstration will provide attendees an interactive, hands-on look at the tilt-up process and will incorporate the latest products and services offered by the industry,” says TCA Managing Director Mitch Bloomquist.
Dayton Superior will provide designers and engineers an education track featuring presentations surrounding multistory tilt-up in high seismic areas plus implications of the new building codes. In addition to the education sessions, convention attendees will have the opportunity to attend a Nox-Crete-sponsored awards gala honoring organizations, professionals and projects that have furthered tilt-up construction development. International attendees will be hosted at a dedicated reception in the top level of the Transamerica Pyramid, San Francisco.
Featured speakers at this year’s convention include Kim Basham, senior structural engineer for KB Engineering; John Lawson, assistant professor at California Polytechnic State University; James Baty, TCA technical director; Jeffrey Brown, principal-in-charge of design at Powers Brown Architecture; Arthur McKinney, chairman of McKinney & Co.; Stephen Pelham, principal structural engineer at Barrish Pelham & Associates; Jinger Tapia, principal at Ware Malcomb, and Hernan Perez, technical services director of Ready Mixed Concrete at Cemex.
