Convening in New Orleans late last month for its 2014 Annual Meeting and 20th Anniversary observance, ICPI presented William Schneider the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing significant industry contributions through technical innovation and advocacy; demonstrated leadership; dedication to employee well-being; and, stressing contractor/installer education as paramount to producer success.

Founder of Oswego, Ill.-based LPS Pavement and more recently Aqua Paving Construction, Schneider is a charter Institute member; served as first Construction Committee chair; and, developed Concrete Paver Installer Course and Commercial Paver Technician Course content. He was the first instructor of the former course, which since its inception has seen 15,000-plus participants. Schneider has also served on ICPI’s Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and numerous standing and special committees.

“There is no one better fitting to be the first recipient of such a prestigious award. Bill’s professional accomplishments are numerous, and he is widely recognized as the pioneer of paving installations in the United States,” said outgoing ICPI Chairman Dave Carter (Oaks Concrete/Brampton Brick).

“Bill Schneider in many ways exceeds the challenging requirements and expectations for the award. [His] ambitions and accomplishments make him highly deserving of the honor,” added successor David Pitre (Pavestone Co.), who began a two-year chairman’s term at the close of 2014 meeting.
