PLYCEM ADDS FIBER CEMENT SIDING IN SAINT-GOBAIN DEAL

Paris-based Saint-Gobain anticipates a firstquarter 2014 closing on the sale of its RoaringRiver, N.C.; Terre Haute, Ind.; and, WhiteCity, Ore., fiber cement siding facilities toAlpharetta, Ga.-based Plycem USA Inc., whichdistributes fiber cement trim sourced from aCosta Rica plant.

Fiber cement siding for residential andcommercial buildings is part of Saint-GobainExterior Products, which will focus on vinyland polymer shake cladding. Plycem is ownedby Mexico’s Elementia, a consortium of industrialand construction companies spanningfiber cement, portland cement, concrete,polyethylene, styrene, polypropylene andcopper products. Present in more than 40countries through 5,000-plus outlets, Elementiahas Metals, Building Systems, Plasticsand Cement divisions—the latter a partnerwith Lafarge Group in three Mexico mills.
