Concrete Industry Management Program grosses $800K+ in Las Vegas auction

With confirmed live, online and silent bids totaling more than $810,000, “The CIM [National Steering Committee] program is pleased to report that the 2014 World of Concrete Auction surpassed our highest gross proceeds total (2013’s $615,000)  ever,” notes Cemex’s Mike Philipps, who chaired the committee organizing the Las Vegas Convention Center-staged, January 22 fundraiser. “We had a record in terms of the value of donated items and auction attendees that helped make this year’s event a huge success … Everyone stepped up to donate and bid on great items.”

Represented by CEO William Sandbrook, Texas-based U.S. Concrete Inc. was top bidder for the signature item: a Mack Granite Axle Forward chassis with a McNeilus 11-cubic-yard Bridgemaster transit mixer. . “We thank McNeilus Companies, Mack Trucks … and the numerous [others] that donated items to make [the auction] a complete success,” says CIM Marketing Committee Chairman Brian Gallagher, adding, “We were fortunate to have the incredible support of the World of Concrete Show Management, Hanley Wood Publications and Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers.”

Auction items included cement truckloads, concrete saws, drills, mixers, form vibrators, safety equipment, screeds, fiber transport systems, dust collectors, decorative concrete tools, water meters, pumps, generators, training sessions, laptop computers, plus sports, golf or vacation travel packages. The National Steering Committee will direct proceeds to CIM programs at Middle Tennessee State University (charter); Arizona State University; California State University, Chico; New Jersey Institute of Technology; and, Texas State University.
