Judges in the Tilt-Up Concrete Association’s 23rd Annual Tilt-Up Achievement Awards recognized a total of 31 award recipients, and selected 11 overall Excellence in Achievement winners—including the four projects noted here. TCA established the Achievement Awards to honor projects that represent an increasing diversity of building types constructed with site-cast tilt-up concrete as well as those that advance industry technology, apply innovative form and provide unique solutions to building programs.

Power-Monitoring Current Transformers

The new CTRC AC Current Transformers monitor circuits up to 2,000 amps and produce a safe, low voltage output proportional to the RMS current value. This output is designed as an input to a power monitor or transducer, replicating the AC wave shape with phase angle resolution better than 2 degrees. The flexible coil design allows the cable to surround multiple conductors or bus assemblies regardless of shape and eliminates the magnetically permeable core of standard current transformers while providing excellent isolation, sensing only the magnetic field of the phase inside the loop. The CTRC can be used in any power monitoring application.

Soft Starters

With models ranging from 3 to 4,500 hp, the product line begins with the compact SSW05, a fully digital soft starter with a state-of-the-art DSP (Digital Signal Processor) control. Simplicity
in set-up and operation is assured since all parameters and set-up selections are made using dip switches and potentiometers, product developers contend. The SSW05 comes standard with integral bypass contactor and is sized for light and medium duty applications. The SSW05 is available in the 3 to 75 hp motor range.

Radiant Heater

The HDR 155 Direct-Fired Radiant Heater features a heating design unaffected by the elements, so heat is directed exactly to where it’s needed. Delivering what product engineers contend is best-in-class, 155,000 Btu/hour heat input, the HDR 155 easily heats workspaces, workers and objects such as equipment, concrete form work and other structures from approximately 15 feet away. Since infrared heat radiates directly from the heater’s disc, the HDR 155 does not rely on warming the surrounding air like convection heating, so it produces quick, intense heat.
