“An Introduction to Product Category Rules (PCR), Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) and Other Aspects of Sustainable Process and Resilient Materials” will be held December 8 at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville (Fla.) Riverfront, host venue of ASTM Committee C09 on Concrete and Concrete Aggregates standards development meetings.
The workshop will focus on PCR and EPD basics and how they relate to individual raw materials, plus ready mixed concrete. Workshop organizers cite increased marketplace demand for resilient structures built with products derived from sustainable processes—a PCR in combination with EPD helping verify supplier or manufacturer claims and enabling comparisons between like products or alternates.
ASTM recently became an EPD Program Operator, following a similar move by National Ready Mixed Concrete Association earlier this year, aimed at assisting producer members in document certification.
Online registration for “An Introduction to PCR/EPD” will open approximately eight weeks before the workshop at www.astm.org/C09Wrkshp12-13. Co-chairing the program are Richard Szecsy of Texas Aggregates & Concrete Association, 512/451-5100; [email protected]; and Steven Parker of Chryso Inc., 214/415-7089, [email protected].
