A strategic partnership with the U.S. Green Building Council has netted Hanley Wood the annual Greenbuild International Conference and Expo, whose attendance has grown from a few hundred to 30,000-plus in just over a decade.
“[USGBC] has established Greenbuild as the must-attend event in the sustainable construction industry, making this acquisition a natural fit,” says Hanley Wood CEO Peter Goldstone. “Greenbuild is a powerful community driven by a passion for creating a socially responsible and healthy environment that improves our quality of life.”
Hanley Wood’s exhibition and conference-management expertise, along with media, information and strategic marketing services—underscored by the company’s flagship event, World of Concrete—will enable Greenbuild to expand to its next level domestically and to help position the brand globally.
“Through Hanley Wood’s commitment to Greenbuild, USGBC can now accelerate investment in our core mission,” notes Council CEO and Founding Chair Rick Fedrizzi. “One of the reasons we chose to partner with Hanley Wood is because of their commitment to maintain and build upon those essential qualities of Greenbuild that make it such a unique experience. This partnership creates an opportunity to expand the green building marketplace, broaden our influence on green building policy, [and] enhance the tools that improve building performance.”
USGBC will continue to produce Greenbuild’s hallmark programming: thought-provoking plenary sessions, industry-leading education, pre-conference sector summits, Council Leadership Awards, and other special events. Now it its 12th year, Greenbuild is the largest global event dedicated to green building, with upwards of 175,000 square feet and 900-plus exhibitors, including the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute, National Concrete Masonry Association, National Precast Concrete Association, National Ready Mixed Concrete Association, and Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute. Greenbuild 2013, November 20-22 in Philadelphia, dovetails USGBC’s 20th anniversary.
