NPCA opens survey to clarify OSHA crane operator certification guidelines

With an eye toward a November 2014 operator certification mandate, NPCA encourages precast producers who have straight or knuckle-boom cranes to complete an 11-question online survey, posted here. The association will use results to assist the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and certifying agencies in clarifying gray areas in rules surrounding a crane operator certification requirement for late next year. NPCA and other stakeholders are especially concerned that OSHA and certifying agencies limit tests to the types of vehicles certification candidates operate. The more survey responses, the greater weight OSHA will assign to precast industry feedback.
