PCI accepting 2013 Design Awards entries through May 20, continuing a longstanding program to recognize design and engineering excellence, innovation, and construction quality using precast concrete. Winning projects will be featured at the 2013 PCI Convention and National Bridge Conference, and in PCI Journal plus Aspire and Ascent magazines.

Throughout the past half century, the PCI Design Awards program has helped the design and construction community by showcasing ideas that push the envelope, overcome challenges, and improve upon existing concepts. “This year’s focus on high performance projects will take the competition to a new level and further its legacy of cultivating ideas and advancements in both precast concrete structures and the construction industry overall,” says PCI President James Toscas.

Entries are accepted in buildings and transportation structures categories, each with several subcategories. In addition to best-in-class awards, special awards will be given for industry advancement, sustainable design, and the best all-precast concrete structure or solution. Any structure in North America completed within the last three years and substantially constructed using precast concrete from a PCI- or Canadian PCI-Certified plant is eligible. Entries are made electronically, free of charge, and should be submitted by the architect or engineer of record. Winners will be announced in late July 2013. Additional information, including submission guidelines, can be obtained at www.pcidesignawards.org/2013intro/, or by contacting Brian Miller, [email protected], or Jennifer Peters at [email protected].
