Over the past four decades EGStoltzfus Homes, LLC has constructed 6,000-plus new homes throughout south central Pennsylvania, with more than one-third of them using Superior Walls’ precast foundation.
“Our company has installed more than 2,000 of these energy-efficient foundation systems in custom and neighborhood homes—more than any other builder in the country,” says Andy Toms, director of Production at EGStoltzfus Homes in Lancaster, Pa. Citing the precast foundation system’s quality and time-saving characteristics, he adds, “We believe that Superior Walls gives our homebuyers a better foundation for the home structure than other commonly-used systems.”
EGStolzfus Homes stresses for homebuyers two specific Superior Walls features: a 5,000-psi concrete spec for the system’s Xi wall panels, which helps resist water penetration and nets a drier basement; and, R12.5 insulation value, owing to a design incorporating 2.5-in. Dow Styrofoam insulation board. “Homebuyers may have done research and know what kind of countertops, appliances or flooring they want, but the foundation is a different matter,” notes Toms. “We work hard to inform them about the value of having an energy-efficient foundation that can provide year-round comfort and benefits.”
