Paver sales up nearly 3% in the U.S., 7% in Canada

The annual ICPI Industry Sales Survey indicates a 2.7 percent increase in total U.S. paver sales and 7 percent increase in Canadian paver sales from 2010 to 2011. The survey reflects an approximately 79/21 split between residential and commercial/industrial market sales. Permeable pavers represented just over 5 percent of 2011 industry shipments and trended the same end use markets as conventional interlocking products.

ICPI hails highway bill’s permeable pavers provision

Included in the language of the new MAP-21 highway funding legislation are the first-ever permeable pavements provisions, which were conceived by ICPI and offered for consideration on Capitol Hill. In doing so, ICPI has created new law, and established that permeable pavements are now a technology for use under the auspices of the U.S. Transportation Department.

PCA applauds life-cycle analysis provisions of new surface transportation legislation

After weeks of negotiations, a new surface transportation legislation, which was passed by Congress on June 29, was signed into law by President Barak Obama on July 6. PCA released a statement saying the organization was especially pleased with key provisions in the final bill, Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21), related to life-cycle cost analysis (LCCA) and pavement research, in addition to provisions to quickly bring the technologies to states.
