RPM International Inc. has acquired Viapol Ltda., a leading Brazilian manufacturer and marketer of building materials and construction products, including concrete admixtures. Based in Cacapava, near Sao Paulo, with annual sales of approximately $85 million, Viapol will become part of RPM’s Euclid Chemical Co.
“This acquisition extends our already broad presence in Latin America. Viapol’s strong market position in Brazil provides unique opportunities in a dynamic emerging market,” says Euclid Chemical President Moorman Scott. “With Brazil hosting the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympics, the timing of this acquisition couldn’t be better as we expect to capitalize on the related boom in infrastructure and commercial construction.”
Viapol’s products are brand leaders in the Brazilian market and include rolled asphalt roofing materials, waterproofing products, industrial epoxy flooring systems, structural recovery products, and retail paints, varnishes and stains. The company has more than 300 employees, nearly 125 independent sales representatives and two ISO-9000 certified manufacturing facilities in Brazil.
