A change of ownership involving German and Swiss companies, coupled with a new North America representation, has repositioned one of the original concrete plant automation brands: Züblin Maschinen und Anlagenbau GmbH. With headquarters in Kehl, Germany, Züblin MAB is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of cage-welding machines for concrete pipe, precast molds, and, vibrating, centrifuging and spun cast process equipment for concrete pipe, poles and piles. The business is an outgrowth of a German concrete pipe producer that unveiled the first automatic cage-welding machine in 1961.
Fifty years later, Zurich-based AES Advanced Engineering Solutions GmbH acquired the Züblin MAB business, including the intellectual property from Ed. Züblin AG, a major building contractor with a payroll of 13,000. Züblin MAB now operates as the AES subsidiary of “apilion machines + services GmbH.” In turn, it has enlisted Jonesboro, Ark.-based manufactured-concrete plant equipment specialist American Manufacturing Group for U.S. and Canadian representation.
The deal with Ed. Züblin includes transfer of the entire Züblin MAB work force, according to AES, ensuring that its technical excellence and experience support a platform for future business development.
“apilion machines + services [aims] to continue the tradition of engineering excellence for which Züblin MAB was renowned and grow the company [to its full] potential by continuing to provide innovative tailor-made solutions in response to customers’ needs,” company officials note. — American Manufacturing Group, 870/336.3339; www.amg-group.com; apilion machines & services, www.apilion.de, www.cagemachine.com or www.zueblinmab.de
