Survey sees green homes market increasing five-fold by 2016

A study released at the recent National Association of Home Builders International Builders’ Show finds green homes comprised 17 percent of the overall 2011 residential construction market, but are expected to jump to 29–38 percent of the market over the next five years. The projection equates to a five-fold increase by value, from $17 billion last year to $87-$114 billion in 2016, based on a five-year residential construction outlook.
